Prototype Making & Test Criteria

quilt-en

Purpose of prototype testing

We make the replica, test something that has concerns or multiple ideas. In addition, care should be taken to avoid rework after a single prototype. For this reason, check items and judgment criteria are set from a multifaceted perspective to prevent mistakes in judgment.

Subjects to be confirmed/determined in prototyping and overview of the prototype

A By comparing the light and dark samples with the real thing, determine the light and dark adjustment of the replica.

B Side processing: Determine either heat cut or sewing.

Left: Heat cut
Right: Tri-fold sewing
Bottom: Double-fold sewing

C Confirmation of the hanging part, and the color of the peripheral part: Compare and decide on the shade of gray

Confirmation subjects and judgment criteria

A: Determine the closest brightness % by comparing the brightness data and the real thing.

At that time, the three possible cases of judgment are as follows.

For example, if -26% is determined to be the closest, use -26%.

For example, if -26% and -28% are both considered closest, use -27%.

For example, if it is judged to be darker than -26% and brighter than -28%, use -27%.

The reason for this judgment criterion is that the light and dark of 2% is small and it is difficult to judge from the light and dark test before the prototype.

B: Side processing: Determine either heat cut or sewing.

Left: Heat cut Right: Tri-fold sewing Bottom: Double-fold sewing

The thinking behind the decision is as follows.

For the side, select one that is sturdy and not conspicuous.

Heat cut can be melted and bonded with heat, so the manufacturer believes it to be strong enough and will not fall apart unless washed. In addition, since it is the least conspicuous, the strength is checked and if it is judged to be sufficient, it is adopted.

If the heat cut cannot be used, either tri-fold sewing or double-fold sewing, whichever is less conspicuous, is used. Note that each is folded back at the minimum width, and the less conspicuous one, that is, the shorter width, is adopted. However, it is expected that three-fold sewing will be thicker than double-fold sewing, but we will examine whether there is any problem with this point, and we will make a comprehensive judgment by considering this point. In addition, both fabrics are heat-cut and folded back and sewn, and the strength is considered to be sufficient.

C:   Color of hanging parts, etc.: Compare and decide shades of gray

The thinking behind the decision is as follows.

Decide which of the shades of gray is best, depending on the color of the wall you will be exhibiting.

We will make 2 replicas, so we can have different grays

The dark gray is close to the gray around the data. Light gray uses 20% gray, but it is possible to change the density as we like.
